in 1900's A man was helping a nearby street kid bu jumping in from of a car to save him
1920's A man appeared out of no where to save a young boy from a oncoming vehicle
1940's A man pushed a boy out of the way mysticly and then disapered mysteriously
1960s A man made the boy disappear and then reaper on the other side of the road...
etc etc etc

the moral is time makes exaggerations and we have had a lot of years to exaggerate

Burning littiture was a bad deal. Makes you think whether or not they torched all the dictionaries as well...

I've recently been doing some soul searching and I've come to the conclusion that this statement essentially sums up what I believe in; I believe there is something out there bigger than humanity, and be it religious, scientific or otherwise, I don't think we'll ever understand it, nor do I think we should.

Having said that, I feel like elaborating a bit. I feel like there's something bigger than myself out there and whether that something is in active control, or has already laid out the plan for us, I don't know, and I'm not going to try and find out. I don't think humanity needs to have concrete proof that one set of beliefs is the truth because if we know beyond the shadow of a doubt what the truth is, we violate the only right we are guarenteed to have; the right to think and feel however we so choose. That right is the only one that cannot be taken away from us by any means other than death and to violate that right by offering solid proof that one version of the truth is right would be the ultimate sin against man. As a race we feel the need to explain the unexplainable, and we each do so in our own way, to suit our own lifestyles and morals. If you prove to a Christian that their God does not exist, you remove all faith and meaning from their life and their world would cease to be worth anything to them. The same can be said for any viewpoint on religion and higher powers and if you render a person's life meaningless to them, what will humanity come to?

Wow. That has got to be the best argument I have ever heard in my life for everyone leaving other people alone to worship how they want. Next time a "witness" comes by, I'm using that. Goo, I think you might be a genius!

I basically believe that there has to be something more powerful somewhere, but I haven't defined it. And that people should just try to do the things in life that are right. I try to be kind to everyone, and not be destructive to anything living... unless there's a spider in the house. So in short, just try to be a good person. And let other people think and believe what they want, it's not my business or anyone else's to interfere in others' search for their version of truth.

*bows* Thank you FTWChick, I agree with you on the spiders too. But I think people need to do whatever is best for them. Whatever gives their life meaning or purpose, or answers the questions they have that can't be answered by humanity, they should be allowed to believe in. The freedom to think what we want is the only freedom we are guarenteed that another person cannot take away from us. Terrorists and kidnappers can take away every right we have; the right to our own bodies, the right to privacy, the right to freedom, but they cannot take away what we keep locked inside our own minds and hearts. So as long as we don't outright prove there is or is not a higher power, and what that higher power might be, we keep intact our most basic right; to feel, think, and believe whatever we want. I don't identify with these groups and individuals that want to bash someone because of their beliefs. It doesn't make sense to me to persecute someone for what they think or feel if it's not hurting you. *sigh* I should have been born in the Hippie era.
